Phaedrus: Phaedrus is the artist's name of Peter Tromp. You are exploring my virtual gallery on the Internet, which at this moment shows you the highlights of the past years. 2007 was a strange year. As a father who had just lost his own beloved father, I had to take care of my baby girl named Kaysa. Taking care of a baby on a daily basis doesn't leave much time for other things to do. But although in a slower rhythm and more focused to the inner side of life, the work continued as it always will, and as usual will bear its marks of what happens to me personally. This gallery shows again the products and the dreams in many projects and disciplines which make up my work between the arts of magick and creativity. In the process you might learn something personal about me too. 
 Combining visual art with the art of magic, there is no way my daily/personal life could be left out of it. Magical rituals are an often neglected, very difficult and valuable way to express your innermost essence in abstract concept and symbols which makes it possible to communicate with the people involved in a concentrated and focused way. Trained for years in a mystic/ philosophical Brotherhood, I discovered a more modern and nature oriented approach in Wicca. After a thorough training I ended up with my own group of students. In time the whole project adopted the general name of ‘CiA’ ('Coven in Amsterdam'). You can learn more about Wicca and our group at the CiA homepage. Besides being a visual artist I dance flamenco, using my own body as a way of expression. It brought me back on stage again. But helas, thinking about new possibilities of combining old and new media I had to quit the plans of performing again due to problems with my breathing. Having been a smoker myself for years, I got the rare opportunity to experience what the terror of smoking is for people with bad health. I can assure you, it's not funny. I've turned into a fierce anti-smoker just because of this. So it's my turn now, and due to the egoistic pleasure of those junkies who can't do without their regular shot of nicotine, I am forced to stay away from most pubs, concerts, festivals and restaurants, or suffer days of illness and headaches. I can hardly wait for the ban on smoking in public places which will take effect in this country in june. Art is no business, and an artist is no entrepreneur. It's my choice not to surrender to the pressure modern society puts on creative art and culture. Yes, you can see my work, but no, it's not all for sale. Using all kinds of media I try to express myself and to reach as many people as possible. In the end, sharing your vision with the public is what it's all about. That's why this site will always be changed and reinvented to show what's going on. Once again many thanks to everybody who gave some response to last years' version.
